Queensland’s population is increasing and so is the amount of energy that we use.
According to Queensland’s State of the Environment Report, population growth and climate change are the factors creating the most stress on our state’s environment.
In addition to an increasing need for energy because of population growth, the amount of energy we are consuming as individuals continues to grow.
Over the ten year period from 1995, Queensland’s electricity consumption grew by more than 53 percent*. We are consuming more electric appliances in our homes including computers, air conditioners and large screen LCD and Plasma TVs than ever before.
That's why it’s important that we work together to take steps to reduce our electricity use.
