Climate Change and Electricity
Climate change is one of the greatest challenges facing our environment and as our population grows, so does the amount of energy we use.

Australia's biggest single source of greenhouse gas emissions is burning coal to generate electricity*. Most of Queensland’s electricity is generated by coal-fired power stations# and as our energy needs grow, investing in alternative generation sources such as hydro, solar and biomass is just one way to help the environment.

At Ergon Energy our vision is for everyone to get involved, and by doing so reduce overall electricity consumption. The tips on this website can help you do just that – at home and at work. There's also an Electricity Emissions Calculator so you can work out your personal action plan.
